Cal Fire Crews at Work
DDHPL Launches New Website
The Del Dios Habitat Protection League has launched their website this month, www.ddhpl.org. The site includes information about the organization, their projects, and events. Additional content is planned for February and will present information about volunteering, becoming a member or sponsor, image galleries, and more.
Oak Woodland Fire Fuel Reduction Project
PROJECT UPDATE
Phase 2 Nears Completion
Eucalyptus removal for Phase 2 is almost done. Cal Fire Correctional Crews have done the bulk of the work at Windsurf Beach, Del Dios Park and Green Lagoon. Another 10+ cords of firewood were offered roadside to the community of Del Dios, complements of the Oak Woodland Project, Friends of Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve and the City of San Diego.
Native Planting
On January 10th, the Del Dios Habitat Protection League and the Solana Beach Eco Rotary Club had a very successful "planting party". The group planted 150 native plants, including oaks, sycamore, willow, and mulefat. The next planting party will be February 8th.
Weed Treatment Continues
This month, we will continue treating weeds and eucalyptus. Affected areas near the trail will be posted at least a day before hand-spraying occurs.

One of the easiest ways to lend a hand in the DDHPL Projects is to keep informed. Trail closures, work party events, and project updates are published monthly in this newsletter and on our website.

Please wear clothes that can get dirty, long pants, close-toed shoes, and bring water and gloves. Meet at Del Dios Park 8AM.
